THE RELENTLESS HABIT OF CREATION
Some years ago Juliano Mazzuchini decided to emigrate from his home country, Brazil, to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In his creative career, other artistic forms of expression linked to performance and drama introduced the artist to the need of generating some kind of staging at the beginning of each of his works. This habit is conceived as a ritual and brings us closer to the moment when facing the blank canvas means to let his own self come out.
WHEN WE HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF REMAINING INVISIBLE SPIES TO THE ACT OF CREATION, WE ARE INVARIABLY SURPRISED BY EVERY DECISION THE ARTIST MAKES.
IN SOME BASEMENT OF BUENOS AIRES, INSIDE HIS PICTORIAL LAB, MAZZUCHINI MAKES US PART OF THE START OF ONE OF HIS FASCINATING WORKS: TAKING THE FIRST STEPS WITH PAINT, SKIPPING THE DRAWING, OPENING HIS COMPUTER AS A MODEL AND SIMPLY ALLOWING US TO BE PART OF THE RITE.

Brazilian-born artist Juliano Mazzuchini shares his pictorial processes in two videos recorded in his studio in Buenos Aires. In this first episode he invites us to be part of the initial gestures when starting a work, witnessing the immediacy with which he starts his paintings, skipping previous sketches, reminding us of his love for the Baroque by the absence of previous drawings.
